On my forum, I would not tolerate stalking or harassment of other members. For me, this is a banable offense. What are some offenses that you would ban over?

This last one is subject to ban, as it causes more stress on the forum staff, who's job it is to keep the forum free from useless posts.
Just giving someone a 'breather' from your forum could be enough to make them calm down. Some people will get a second chance after a temp ban and come back having learned a good lesson. Others will not be able to return if they continue on with their actions.
It helps to be flexible and keep an open mind in forum situations. As a forum owner or admin you will always come across situations not covered specifically in the rules. And if you hesitate to ban in those situations just because that action is not prohibited by the rules, you can do a lot of damage to the community. It pays to act quickly to keep the peace. I've been a forum owner for almost four years.
