When was the golden age of forums?

Ten years ago, online sites such as Yahoo groups were very popular as they combined the best of email groups with forums (allowing members to respond to group messages via email or go online to the forum). Then came forums. But later Facebook became more popular along with other social networks. Do you think the golden age of forums has passed?

ListServe groups such as Yahoo groups were once very popular. Then came along forums. And, now Facebook. Forums never really went out of popularity but their focus changed more from casual conversations to indepth learning tools.

I do not think that we have lost the golden age of forums. I still find them to be very much useful.

I get so much enjoyment from being on forums and learning from others. I don't think we are past the grand days of forums. I'm learning something new everyday on forums in my niche.

Yeah, ten years ago, the most popular local here was a beehive of a thousand posts in a day. Each board has its own moderator because of the dynamic activity. I'd say that was the golden years of forum here. Another is a music forum with hundreds of posts in a day from hundreds of members. But now, those 2 forums are gone. I hope this is not an indication of doom for forums.
