A few people have contributed money to our forum but it makes up a very small part of operating expenses, most of which are footed by the owner.

I do not have a forum right now but I think that it would be cool to have this kind of support.

I agree tangee that if you are able to get the support you need, then that just makes your forum even better.

One advantage of forums owned by non-profit organizations is the amount of donations that come in from their supporters. I have had some associations with forums of charitable institutions and even small organizations with advocacy. It was so easy for them to find donors for their financial needs. One such organization depended on the celebrities who are sympathetic to their cause. Those supporters were willing to endorse their forum for free. But for ordinary forums, I cannot say the same. You have to scrimp because it is not easy to find supporters.
