Do you have standards for post quality?

Do you have a minimum standard of post quality such as for length, punctuation, grammar, etc? What if a member is very sloppy with their posts? Do you edit or delete?

I would have to say that if they are very messy, you should just delete them. No one wants to read a post that they can not understand.

Sometimes, I can be very nit-picky over posts. I don't mind casual banter on a forum. But when someone abbreviates too much or uses text speak on a forum, it's bothersome. That type of content isn't really good for SEO purposes. Most times, if this happens on my forum, I will simply edit the post to make it more legible without changing the meaning or intent of what was written.

Good idea. I hate it when some abbreviate it too much. Then sometimes it is hard to read.

And, I'm sure the text speak (abbreviations) just comes from texting a lot where that becomes a habit. But, it's not really appropriate for a forum.

I love to abbreviate when I text. Makes it much simplier. But on a forum there is really not a need for it.

I would just delete the post as I don't have time to edit a sloppy post. Then I would advise the member via pm to clean up their post grammar.

I myself don't want to read a post that is not clear. However, what we call Carabao English is tolerable to me if there is substance in the post. Carabao English is like Tarzan's grammar - me make post so you be happy. But when the grammar is hard to understand, I guess that is not acceptable. With spellings, typo error is fine if not excessive. But the first criterion for me is the substance or thought of a post. If the post is long but has no sense at all... delete and notify the poster.
