There is nothing in this town so for me it would not even be worth it.

Hello,

I live near Washington DC.. Politic capitol of the world. Not very much to do around here either except visit museums, parks, and other not so fun things.

However, Beverly, if you're thinking about doing such a thing, I think they already exist. I know there is a NOVA forum for this area.. and I'm sure other counties have caught on. Not exactly sure your place of residence, but if they don't have a forum or a community 'go-to' site, you should start one definitely!

Kind Regards,
Everett

I think that if you live in a popular place or if there is something to do, then more power to you and you should. I think that they are neat.

If you can add something new to your hometown forum, then do so. There's no reason not to start a hometown forum, but maybe you could ensure it has a unique twist that other local forums in your area don't. For instance, maybe a forum for just new moms or for local business professionals.

I was born and raised in the city so I have no hometown to speak of. But one cousin who grew up in the province and now residing abroad have created a forum for her townmates. Unfortunately, I cannot join because the forum is in their dialect (Kapampangan) which is alien to me. She said that majority of the members are residing abroad who are mostly homesick. By the way, the forum was started with the help of my cousin's grade school classmates.

I have never thought about creating a local hometown forum. However, I find this idea very interesting. I can create a local forum, invite the locals to join, have a discussion on local topics. If I have a lot of members, I might even attract local advertisers.
I have created a website that I intend to cater to the locals by publishing local issues and news, however, I am yet to launch it officially.
