50 Social Media Marketing Tips - Part 4
So this all started with my first 50 social media tips and has been split into 5 pages of 10 tips each page. This is the 4th part with another 10 social media tips for you to learn. You may check out all the other tips on there corresponding pages as listed.
Tip 31: Post to all your social media accounts from one place.
There are many social media management tools today, some free, some paid, that can help you to post to all your social media accounts in one. This will save you a lot of time and energy and make it much easier for you to maintain all your social media profiles in one. Such places as
SoDash,
Hootsuite,
SocialOomph,
Buffer &
SocialFlow have both free and paid versions but the free accounts are enough for managing and posting to several social media accounts including the top 3 Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
Tip #32: Only post the highest quality images.
Images, pictures, photos, they speak a thousand words on their own. And the images and photos you post to your social media are a reflection of your business' personality. If you post, low res, blurry images this will give the impression that your business is a low quality business too. Make sure your images are clear, vivid and not stretched or skewered out of proportion. Facebook does a great job of scraping the images of a URL that you're posting, but if those images are quite small they will be stretched and that will knock them out of proportion.
Tip #33: Use a sniper rifle not a shotgun.
Use a sniper rifle not a shotgun? It can be tempting to flood all your social media profiles and pages with updates and posts all at once by using a shotgun approach, but it's only when you post something of value that your followers are going to engage with it. And valuable things need to be high quality things. But it's much better to post something valuable or even funny & entertaining once a day with sniper like precision than it is to keep shooting tons of dribble to all your social media accounts every day.
Tip #34: Find out what's working and maximise it.
This is where checking and analyzing your social media statistics can come in very handy. But if you know that something in particular is working such as posting at a certain time of day or using a certain type of hashtag, or if engagements with one of your accounts is getting good results from the work you're doing then you should focus on this area and maximise on it. Keep repeating it and turn it into a snowball into an avalanche that goes on to get bigger and bigger the more you work on it.
Tip #35: Use text formatting sparingly.
This one is a little tip from me, and you have to be careful doing it because it can end up looking rather gimmicky, but every once in a while try to use some special formatting and white space in your tweets or Facebook posts. You can use a line break on Twitter and this can be useful for making your main points of that tweet or post stand out more than the rest. It can also make your tweets longer and this will take up more virtual real estate on your followers timeline.
Tip #36: Try different lengths.
Twitter only allows 140 characters maximum in a tweet, but other social media sites like Facebook or Google+ allow you a lot of space to play in. Generally, shorter posts get more response, but longer posts can still be powerful as they can get indexed for more things and tell the user or reader more about it so they are more "buyer ready" before they reach your site. But you should experiment with different sized posts to see which ones work better for you. Some people want to read and see informative insights instead of small snippets so experiment with adding more text to your posts and see which works best for you. Go a week or two only adding short posts, then go a week or two adding long posts and see which has the best response rate.
Tip #37: Actively engage your community.
It's not all about just posting your updates and things to your pages and profiles, it's called "social" media for a reason! So don't just think about yourself and where possible, always try to actively engage with your followers and make them feel like they are a valuable part of your community. A community that you started! Ask them questions, both personal and about your business/product or services. Connect and build ties with them and include them in your conversations. Are you having the same conversation with someone you had with someone else the other day? Mention their name in that post so they see it as a notification. You'll get a lot more love and respect for this in the long run!
Tip #38: Create a Facebook group
You've already got a Facebook Page, so why not create a Facebook Group too? This will help your business considerably by letting people who care about and share the same passions, hobbies or interests to come together and discuss and share their thoughts of feelings or opinions on something specific in particular to do with your business or industry. Groups let people feel much more open and willing to engage and join in without feeling like they're always trying to be sold something. Plus as you know, Facebook limits your reach with a Page so a Group can help you attract more people to it and help you to establish yourself as an authority or leading voice in your industry. Go for groups!
Tip #39: Check your statistics often.
Talking of statistics, you can create a mountain of data with all those posts, and all those posts data can be analyzed. This can tell you a lot about the behavior of your audience and followers and can even lead you to find out about specific industry statistics that can become a lot more useful to you to know what posts and what times have the most response rate and when most of your followers are online, what causes them to click on a certain link and also what other accounts they are following. Analyze your data regularly to find out these very helpful statistics.
Tip #40: Try paid advertising to expand your reach.
Most social media sites like you boost your posts or tweets using paid advertising. While you might be trying to make money and not spend it as much as possible, sometimes to make money, you have to spend money. But by using paid advertising you can expand your reach and even boost your important posts and updates or any special offers you have on both new and old posts. Plus you don't have to spend a fortune on this but if you get the balance just right, you can produce an ROI (Return on Investment) that is more than you have spent on advertising and put that back into more advertising.
