What methods do you use to communicate with your staff?

Communicating with staff is very important because that is where team work comes into play. As a freelancer and webmaster, I have staff members from all around the world and it is important to maintain good communication and make sure we all know what is going on.

For my forum staff members, we have multiple Skype chats. We have one which is for generally chat, one for moderation and one for Admins. Skype is the main platform for our real time chat. Of course, we also have staff forums where we discuss about particular issues. The staff forums is useful for documenting important staff information, while the Skype chat is good for coming up with conclusions for issues quickly.

Communication is definitely the key to have a good functional team and to be able to delegate work with ease. I do talk to my personnel on Skype, but mainly through emails as I keep things very separate. One member for one thing and one for another task. Two for that project and one for a total different thing so to speak. So there's literally no reason for them to know each other, as I am the one who gives them their assignments. With that being said, most of them are aware of each other and they do know that they're not alone working for me.

Skype is definitely the way to go if you have more than a couple people on staff. Well, even if you have just one person on your staff it's probably the best bet since it's free and anyone can install it What methods do you use to communicate with your staff?

I've used skype plenty of times when working with employees and it's truly one of the best ways to communicate with everyone. Not to mention they have an app you can use on any smart phone in order to talk to people when you're away from your computer. I noticed a little bit of a delay when using the app so I didn't use it too much, but it's still nice to have because I didn't have a business number they could contact me through and I didn't want to give out my personal phone number because I'd probably get calls all the time.

Yep! I agree with you. And communication with staff very much importance specially for online job or as a freelancer. And I mostly use Skype to communicate with my staff. And it is very easy way to contact with them. I have some staff in office and out of office too. And for communicating with all I use mostly Skype. But some time I use team viewer specially when I need to setup anything on their computer and small file sharing or short messages sending or receiving, I feel convenient to use team viewer. So beside Skype, team viewer another useful option to me for communicating my staffs. And I also use email for communicating but not as usually.

I prefer using emails. Both Yahoo and Google have the chat features and so sometimes I use them too, especially when the person I need to contact is showing to be online at that moment. I know that many use Skype and even those who commented above mentioned it. But personally I prefer to have a written record of what has been discussed and so I prefer emails and chatting.
