When I purchase a domain from Godaddy, I will not use their hosting because I'm not s huge fan of it.
Hosting Companies
You can find a seller here on Seocheckout that can offer you hosting but if you don't want to go through a freelancer you can search always go through a bigger company by easily searching "Hosting Companies" through Google, Yahoo! or Bing. I tend to go with t35hosting.com because a while back they were on their way to compete with other big players and never had their moment to shine. They offer a great service and their CEO actually answers most of their support tickets, which is extremely rare when you think about it.
Hosting Plans
When you're setting up your hosting you probably don't need anything extravagant because you're just starting out and probably won't have an insane amount of traffic. You can set up a shared hosting account for $10 to $14 a month which is a pretty standard rate. I go through T35 because I've never had much downtime and they also offer dedicated IP addresses for your website, which is awesome You can pay a little more if you think you'll be getting a lot of traffic, they offer some pretty well priced plans for the hardware you're renting.
Uptime and Downtime
Now any hosting company that boasts a 100% uptime is just telling lies and you should run away as quick as possible. No one can guarantee 100% uptime because of human error, equipment breaking, bad hardware, etc. A lot of companies will say they have 99.9% uptime because they understand there is a chance that your website could go down due to server upgrades of random malfunctions. I have used plenty of hosting companies and they all offer 99.9% uptime and I've actually never seen my websites down personally. I will get a report sometimes that my site was down for a few minutes, but I'm ok with that since if I had to do the hosting myself I guarantee that my site would be down for a few hours everyday
This is just part 2 of at least 6 in my "Start To Finish - Building A Website And Profiting" guide.
Stay Tuned!
